Provider setup

Put your Mac to work.

Earn by serving AI models on your Apple Silicon Mac. Install the provider, link your account, and bring your Mac onto the network.

Four steps, from Terminal to your dashboard
  1. Install on your Mac

Open Terminal on the Mac you want to connect, then run this command.

    Terminal
    curl -fsSL https://api.darkbloom.dev/install.sh | bash

On macOS 27 or later, setup uses App Attest without a Darkbloom MDM profile. On older macOS, the installer opens System Settings for device enrollment. Upgrade to macOS 27 to avoid MDM; Darkbloom MDM will be deactivated soon.

  2. Choose your models and start

The model picker helps you choose what to serve, downloads the models, and starts the provider in the background.

    Terminal
    darkbloom start

The first download can take a while. Keep your Mac connected to power and the internet while it gets ready.

By starting the provider, you agree to the Terms of Service.

  3. Check your connection

Check the provider’s local status, then open your dashboard to see this Mac’s connection, verification, and earnings.

    Terminal
    darkbloom status

If something needs attention, your dashboard explains the next step. A linked Mac may still be downloading models or completing verification.

A few things to know

What will run on my Mac?

The provider runs AI models on your Mac’s GPU using Apple Silicon’s unified memory. You choose which models to serve in the Terminal picker. The provider runs as a background service, and darkbloom stop stops it.

Do I need to install a device profile?

macOS 27 or later uses App Attest without new Darkbloom MDM enrollment. Link your account and start the current provider; serving begins after Darkbloom approves its verification. Older macOS uses the legacy device profile. Upgrade to macOS 27 to avoid MDM: Darkbloom MDM will be deactivated soon. Keep existing profiles installed until darkbloom unenroll confirms App Attest migration is ready, and keep any employer management profile.

Can I keep using my Mac?

Yes. Serving models uses memory, GPU time, power, and bandwidth. During setup you choose whether models stay loaded or free memory when idle. Keep the Mac awake while providing; closing a MacBook’s lid can interrupt availability.

When will I start earning?

Link your account and get your Mac connected and verified first. Earnings depend on eligible hardware, availability, the models you serve, and network demand. Your dashboard shows recorded earnings; the earnings calculator helps you explore estimates before starting.
